  Rising Road Accidents in Abia State: A Call for Urgent Sensitization and Responsible Enforcement In recent times, Abia State has witnessed a troubling rise in road accidents across major cities and highways. What should have been a period of progress—marked by improved infrastructure and smoother roads—has instead become a growing public safety concern. The very developments meant to enhance mobility are now contributing to reckless driving, avoidable crashes, and needless loss of lives. The Irony of Development The construction and rehabilitation of roads across Abia State deserve commendation. However, these newly paved, smooth roads have unintentionally created a false sense of “freeway driving” among motorists.
